This was a world I originally developed at Cartoon Network for a year before it got canned. After art directing the Midnight Gospel, I took the idea to Netflix to see if they were interested. It was maybe the worst pitch of my life. I needed their help making this show but I didn't want to tell them anything about it because my ideas felt too abstract and personal to put through more grueling years of development. So then I decided to raise the money myself and make a pilot to see if any of these ideas about death and our connection to the sublime and the grotesque would resonate with anyone else.
